Welcome to the Spring 2020 semester, OER Trailblazers and others!
This semester, in addition to our regular OER consultations, department presentations, and private training available, the Open & Affordable Education Committee will also be hosting a couple of workshops that may be of interest to you through the University Library and CELT:
Free Textbooks and More: Open Educational Resources (OER) panel and workshop
Wednesday, 05 Feb 2020, 12:10 to 1:30 pm (2030 Morrill Hall)
Join us for a panel discussion on the impact of free, openly licensed course materials in the classroom. In this 2-part event, a panel of faculty and students will begin by sharing their experiences using OER in the classroom. Following the panel, participants will have the opportunity to participate in a workshop to learn more about finding and evaluating open resources for your course.
Thursday, 27 Feb 2020, 1:10 to 2:30 pm (Memorial Union Cardinal Room)
Have you ever wondered what "Fair Use" really means? In this workshop, the University Library and University Counsel will use real-life scenarios to help you navigate Fair Use, the TEACH Act, copyright support on campus, and more! Registration required through Learn @ ISU.
Miller Open Education Mini-Grants: Proposal Writing Q&A Workshop
Monday, 06 Apr 2020, 2:10 to 3:00 pm (2030 Morrill Hall)
Are you curious about how to complete the ideal proposal for the Miller Open Education Mini-Grant Program? In this Q&A-style workshop, staff will guide you through the application process with example proposals, a copy of the application rubric, and all the answers to your questions.
