HDFS 369: Research Methods in Human Development and Family Studies

Resource

Case Study

As an Associate Professor of Human Development and Family Studies, I have taught Research Methods for nearly ten years. Thanks to the open license on "Social Science Research: Principles, Methods, and Practices," I can add, delete, and modify the content at no cost to my students. The author of the text is clearly passionate about his topic and, although I do not always agree with his opinions, the book is not stale. This is often a problem with basic textbooks that try to cater to too many casual audiences and be marketable across too many venues. By using this open textbook, I can teach in class from a position of appreciation and criticism of the text, and this makes the lecture experience more engaging.
