Case Study

Dr. Starling's OER project implemented an open pedagogy approach, where students were invited to participate in the development and refinement of course materials as part of their learning. After lectures, students were given draft chapters of the course's textbook to review, comment on, and suggest edits for. During this time, students were encouraged to explore and build content in areas where they had personal interest, in order to build experience locating and summarizing research. The first edition of the book is in production now, following peer review from experts across the United States and final edits by Dr. Starling.
