Case Study
Dr. Ji Yeong I is an associate professor of Mathematics Education in the School of Education and Human Computer Interaction at Iowa State University. Her research aims to increase the awareness and pedagogical knowledge of mathematics teachers about teaching Emergent Bilinguals. With the research effort, Dr. I created and revised the online course, EDUC 502/593G Teaching Mathematics to English Language Learners, and co-authored an online textbook as an open educational resource.
This book is designed for pre-service/in-service teachers and others who will work or work with K–12 students who have linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds, especially students of other languages (English language learners/Emergent bilingual/multilingual). The book contents are aligned with a 100% asynchronous course, EDUC 502/593G, which is open to ISU students and in-service teachers.
