Genetics, Agriculture, and Biotechnology book coverThe goal of this project was to create a relevant agricultural genetics and biotechnology Open Educational Resources (OER) for Iowa State University students by leveraging pre-existing free educational resources from ISU’s Plant Breeding E-Learning in Africa (PBEA) and University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Plant and Soil Sciences eLibrary (PASSeL).

This completed textbook, Genetics, Agriculture, and Biotechnology, was collaboratively developed by Walter Suza, Adjunct Associate Professor at Iowa State University, and Donald Lee, Professor of Plant Breeding and Genetics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. A clear and structured introduction to the topic for learners new to the field of genetics, the book includes: an introduction to the life cycle of the cell, DNA and how it relates to genes and chromosomes, DNA analysis, recombinant DNA, biotechnology, and transmission genetics.
