Open content—both open access publications and OER—are valuable tools for showcasing your expertise and sharing information with a wide audience. Engaging in open work may count towards research, service, and teaching expectations, but how do you describe it? In this workshop, faculty will receive guidance on how to reap the benefits of open content for the promotion and tenure process, leveraging examples from actual P&T packets from Iowa State faculty.

In this hands-on workshop, instructors will get an introduction to open educational resources (OER), free instructional materials that you can adapt to fit your course’s needs. In addition to learning OER basics, participants will receive tips on how to find, evaluate, and integrate OER into a course.
