Creation & Implementation of Open Educational Resources for EVENT 471

Contributors

For his Miller Mini-Grant project, Dr. Olson created multiple open case studies to accompany his course, EVENT 471: Special Events Coordination. These case studies were created to be used in team-based learning (TBL) activities. The heart of TBL is the use of application activities where student teams simultaneously solve, report, and discuss solutions to significant, industry-related application activities. TBL allows teams to make decisions and obtain timely and immediate feedback on their thinking and process for their answers to application activities. Once completed, his case studies were shared in the ISU Digital Repository under a Creative Commons license.

In addition to developing new content for this course, Dr. Olson's project also laid the groundwork for the development of new OER in Event Management, a field currently lacking many such materials.
